What We Cover:

  • We talk about how Brittany created a network and established relationships in a brand new field.
  • Brittany shares with us how she sent handwritten notes to all companies that she was interested in interning with (ended up sending 30-40 handwritten notes out), and secured her first internship after her freshman year.
  • A great reminder that Brittany talks about is how telling people what she wanted, being willing to connect with humans, helped lead to so many other opportunities and relationships.
  • Looking at her experience so far Brittany wants us all to know, there’s no one path, and the important piece to remember is that we all have our own story.
  • Brittany talks about how going back to school after being in the workforce, allowed her the space to explore new arena’s, and see where she might fit best post-graduation.
  • How having a supportive work environment gave her the ability to balance a full-time job and a Master’s program.
  • We talk through how she is able to push through the feeling of imposter syndrome, to celebrate her wins, while still acknowledging that the career process is a struggle.
  • Best advice for her younger self:  realizing we do not have to control everything, some of the best things come out of areas where we had no control, where we said yes and were willing to take a chance.
  • My favorite note she left us with is the importance of being willing to let go of the timelines we made up in our mind and learning to be comfortable with being uncomfortable.
