What We Cover:

  • When the idea of starting a business first came about Heather said she focused on the following questions: how do I want to make an impact, how do I find my voice, and how do we build a product and business we are excited about.

  • Heather lived overseas for two and a half years before moving back to the states when conversations of an acquisition had started for Bogobrush.

  • While they decided to not move forward with the acquisition Heather explained that it led to an even larger conversation about what they were trying to do as a company.  They knew that it was about more than a toothbrush, and she said these conversations reaffirmed that the bigger picture remained focused around sustainability, and what type of legacy they wanted to leave.

  • Heather’s team has intentionally focused on sustainability, established relationships to manufacture their product in the US, and their hope is to get involved in communities around the world.  She explained that they would love to be able to connect with communities all over, to determine the communities needs, and try to introduce products that help to meet those needs.

  • We explore the important role mentorship has played in Heather’s career journey.  She talks about how when she was interested in getting a mentor, she focused on letting people know that she wanted a mentor, then she spent time finding people she connected with on a human level or in some area of professional development that she sought to grow in, and she accepted and was open to conversations and connections with other people.

  • Final words of wisdom:  Remember to act on your curiosities - be present, think about what you are curious about, and take action.
